DECEMBER 7, 2024
POTLUCK AND GIFT EXCHANGE

Now is the time to start thinking about our December meeting.  This year we are returning to our tradition of a Christmas Gift exchange. You are encouraged to make a fiber item  that you might want to receive, wrap it up and bring it to the meeting!  We will begin by sharing a potluck together, and then after our business meeting we will have our gift exchange and Show and Tell  You won’t want to miss this fun meeting!



                                                     

JANUARY 4, 2025




Kelsey Wiskirchen, the executive director of WEAVE A REAL PEACE, will speak on the values and goals of the fascinating organizationWARP is a catalyst for improving the quality of life of textile artisans worldwide. It is an Inclusive global network of individuals and organizations who value the social, cultural, historic, artistic, and economic importance of textile arts. Take a look at their website and then join us for a journey to see artisans all over the world.



FEBRUARY 1,2025

Tapestry will be the subject for our February  meeting.  An in person program given by two local women from Whatcom county.  Valerie O'Connor from the Jantzen and Shelia Attwater from Whatcom Weavers will be here. 


MARCH 1,2025

Rosalie Neilson's presentation on Rep Weave.

"What attracted me to weaving was the color I found in weft-faced and warp-faced block weaves.  Being part Scandinavian, I gravitated to the Swedish technique of warp-faced rep, and began to explore the complexity of geometric designs created by the interchange of two layers of color."  Rosalie Neilson

APRIL 5, 2025

Cally Booker will be presenting a program on The Two Faces of Twill. "double-faced twill is a twill woven with two wefts on a single warp layer. One weft is woven in a 1/3 twill and the other in a 3/1 twill. The shafts are carefully chosen so that the two weft picks can slide right over each other."

SVWG SILENT AUCTION

This is what we have been wait for!  Start sorting through your stash now and find those yarns and pieces of equipment that you are most likely not ever going to actually use and we can sell them at our Auction.  Questions? Kim McKinnon will give you the answers.
